Message From the President

Hello and thank you for your interest in GLA Canada and God's Littlest Angels Orphanage in Haiti.

The earthquake of January 12 has changed Haiti forever and it will change how we respond in the next year. First, we are thrilled that all of our Haitian workers are safe, none suffered injuries. We are terribly saddened that so many of them lost many loved ones and almost all of them lost their homes or had severe damage to their homes. Today these dear people are sleeping in tents or under tarpaulins we provided as part of our initial relief efforts. Their faith in God and their resilience is an inspiration to all of us.

Our immediate response was to charter two flights to bring in emergency medicines, tents, blankets, tarps, food, baby supplies, Doctors and a few other emergency workers to assist where possible. Then our efforts turned to getting all the children who were in the adoptive process out to their families in Belgium, Netherlands, USA and Canada. We are so happy for these children and their families, may God grant them a wonderful time of bonding and learning to love each other.

Now our efforts will continue to provide food, clothing and shelter for these thousands of displaced people while we stand ready to accept new children into our care.

It won't be long until we are full to overflowing again and the need to build will be pressing. We are reviewing our plans to make sure the building designs are quake proof and hurricane proof before we start to build. Some people are pressing us to build as soon as possible after the quake, we are assesing these possibilities along with several others. The land is ours, the wall is complete and 2 service buildings are complete.

It costs only $35.00 per square foot to complete this project, with every gift of $35.00 per month, we are one square foot closer to a new home for these children. The need for this new facility is pressing as we have new children coming to us every week and the process for adoption in Haiti has been moving very slowly. I urge you to prayerfully consider what you can do for the orphans.
